VINIVERI 2017 – VINI SECONDO NATURA

Between April 7th and 9th 2017 at the Areaexp in Cerea (VR)

 

Fourteenth Edition dedicated to the Rebirth of

Castelluccio di Norcia and the areas affected by the earthquakes

 

ViniVeri – Vini secondo Natura celebrates its fourteenth anniversary. It is the longest running show of organic wines and food products, organized by Consorzio Viniveri between April 7th and 9th at the usual location Areaexp “La Fabbrica”, at the heart of the city of Cerea, a few chilometers from Verona.

 The ViniVeri 2017 edition is dedicated to “Spring”, to the concept of rebirth. The rebirth of areas, communities and manufacturing sectors that have been hit hard by the earthquakes that have been hitting central Italy since last August. In order to support the distress suffered by so many farmers and the productive activities linked to the soil and the identity of the areas broken to their knees by the heartquakes, 5 Euros of each admission ticket to the show ViniVeri 2017 will be donated to the Association “Per la Vita di Castelluccio di Norcia ONLUS.” These funds will be used to help the small producers at the town of Castelluccio di Norcia. These are the authentic farmers who grow the ancient vegetables and grains of the area, these funds will help them in the reconstruction of their business and their supply chain.

 Furthermore, the Consorzio ViniVeri will make a cash donation from its own funds, to be destined to the same purposes. The organization also committes to collecnt funds from private donors, who will be able to make a voluntary contribution to the bank account IBAN IT06G0103021700000001831619 in the name of Consorzio ViniVeri noted “Per La Vita di Castelluccio di Norcia.”

In addition, ViniVeri 2017 entrusted the design of its image to the children of the Acquasanta Terme kindergarten. This town was torn down by the earthquake in the Ascoli Piceno province, and has become a symbol of rebirth and strength of a people. The school, unfit for use since August 24th, operated in tents for three months. Now, it is housed in a new antiseismic structure and many of the children who attend it have to be driven more than 50 kilometers every day to get there and after classes, they make the same route to return to their residences at the hotels located on the coast.

 

 “ViniVeri 2017” opens its doors on Friday April 7th at 10 am. As in previous years, it will open one day ahead of the other events in the area, to allow passionate followers, sector professionals, journalists and bloggers to get a preview of the wines and winemakers.

 For three days between 10 am and 6 pm, in the wide spaces of Areaexp “La Fabbrica,”  together with the producers of Consorzio ViniVeri, a hundred independent “wine artisans” wll show their products. They are not only Italian, some come from Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Slovenia, Portugal as well as a large group of natural producers from Spain.

They share the passion and a production philosophy that goes beyond the European organic certification: the goal to generate wine without pesticides, without chemical synthesis in the vineyard and without the use of forced addition and stabilization additives in the cellar.

 In fact, all the wineries present at ViniVeri 2017 have self-certified, under their own responsibility, to follow the dictates of Consorzio ViniVeri’s “Rule” (http://www.viniveri.net/en/consortium/guidelines): respect the environment and biodiversity, while producing with natural and sustainable methods, and their wines were subject to a tasting panel before being selected.

 In addition to the wines, there will be artisanal agricultural products. In particular, there will be a corner dedicated to the specialties and products of the areas devastated by the earthquakes brought by a group of small producers and artisans from Norcia.

 At 6:00 pm Friday, April 7th, the participating producers will host the international conference. The main topic is the announcement of significant concessions with regard to the transparency of information that can be written on the label. This is an important and innovative result obtained by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies after years of tight and cooperative relation between Consorzio ViniVeri  and the leadership of the ministry.

 At 6:00 pm Saturday, April 8th, there will be a “Tasting-Memorial” to honor Stanko Radikon. This session will be held in the conference room of Area-Exp and will be hosted by the journalist Davide Paolini

 The program also includes two dinners. In order to attend, they need to be booked at the entrance of the Fair. In the evenings of Friday 7th and Saturday, April 8th, our kitchen will host two young and established chefs. They are: Enrico Bartolini – who in addition to earning two Michelin stars at Mudec of Milan, a star in Bergamo and one in Castiglione della Pescaia, is a member of the Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe – and twenty-year-old talented Martina Caruso from Salina, Michelin star, best emerging chef in 2017 for the Gambero Rosso and recently awarded as the best female chef by Identità Golose 2017. The gastronomic journey of the evening will be paired with the wines produced by the ViniVeri’s artisanal winegrowers.

 Again this year, the highly sought after Enoteca ViniVeri is open: it is the cellar-shop, located at the exit of the exhibition areas where, only during the three-day event, the public can buy many of the ViniVeri rare, selected labels at cellar prices.

 The daily entrance ticket to ViniVeri 2017 costs €25 and includes a glass and the tasting booklet.

 During the days of the ViniVeri 2017 expo, visitors can also visit the permanent exhibition “The soul and the face,” set up in the spaces next to the fair. This exhibit was organized by La Fabbrica, the company that manages the Area Exp. Sculptor Guerrino Lovato brought this exhibit to Cerea. The exhibit includes the most famous casts of the famous Munaretti Foundry, the workshop of sculptor Emanuele Munaretti, known abroad as the ” Muner sculptor,” he was very active between the late 1800s and 1945. Among the works of art made at the Foundry and present in Cerea, there is a colossal three meter high seated figure in plaster, which represents the United Italy. This statue was modeled by Antonio Rizzo for the monument to Giuseppe Mazzini in Padua, and the head of the patriot of the same monument. The exhibition will be open with free admission on Saturday, April 8th from 3 pm to 6 pm, and Sunday, April 9th, always from 3 pm to 6 pm. The exhibition will be open exclusively to the fair’s visitors who will have the opportunity to enjoy guided tours.

 The expo area Areaexp “La Fabbrica” is located in the heart of Cerea. It is easily accessible from the nearby Verona: Cerea’s railway station is just 300 meters away from Areaexp and it offers numerous direct trains in and out from Verona’s Porta Nuova Station throughout the day. To reach it by car from Verona is even simpler; you just take the provincial road 434 “Transpolesana” Verona-Rovigo and exit at Cerea; the exhibition area is equipped with five large free car parking lots.
